Curricular Units

Modified on Tue, 29 Jul at 4:44 PM

In e-Schooling, curricular units (or template subjects) are used to simplify course configuration, allowing the reuse of subjects common to various levels and types of education. This article explains how to create, configure, and apply these base subjects in the system.

1. Accessing the curricular units menu

From the main menu, go to:

Settings > Pedagogical > Curricular Units

2. Creating a new template subject

To create a new subject:

Click the “+” button

Fill in the required fields:

  • Abbreviation
  • Subject name
  • Type of curricular unit (Subject, Activity, or other types configured in the system)

This type is defined in advance in the support tables and determines how the subject will be handled in the system.

3. Configuring subject details

After saving the new template subject, the system automatically redirects to the subject configuration page, where the following fields can be defined:

  •  Course types in which the subject will be available

  • Education levels where the subject will be suggested

Example: The subject “French” can be configured to appear only from primary education onwards, excluding preschool.

4. Managing template subjects

The system allows several management actions for already created subjects. Below is how to perform each of them:

  • Edit template subjects
  • Delete template subjects
  • Filter by name, type, or level
  • Export the subject list, if needed

Template subjects are an essential tool to ensure consistency and efficiency in curricular configuration. By identifying common subjects across the school’s courses, it is possible to create a solid foundation that avoids rework and improves pedagogical organization.
