Holidays and Breaks

Modified on Fri, 11 Jul at 11:05 AM

This article guides users through the configuration of institution-wide holidays and academic breaks in the e-Schooling system. These breaks apply across the entire institution, affecting all school activities regardless of course, class, or subject.

1. Accessing the Holidays and Breaks Configuration

To configure holidays and breaks, go to:

Settings » Academic » Holidays and Breaks

2. Creating and Configuring Holidays and Breaks

Academic breaks can be configured flexibly to match the institution’s calendar. These breaks may include:

•    Single-day events, such as national or local holidays

•    Multi-day periods, such as school vacations or breaks between terms

•    Partial-day closures, such as afternoon-only closures for specific reasons

To add a break manually:

Click the “+” button

Enter the name (e.g., “School Anniversary”)

Select the start and end date (can be the same day)

(Optional) Define the time range if it’s not a full-day break

Click Save

3. Copying Breaks from Previous Years

To simplify setup, you can copy breaks from a previous academic year:

Click “Copy academic breaks from another year”

Select the source year (e.g., 2011)

Choose the target year (e.g., 2025)

Click Save

The system will import all previously configured breaks from the selected year. If no breaks exist in the source year, nothing will be copied.

Properly configuring holidays and breaks ensures that the system automatically recognizes non-instructional days, helping to avoid scheduling conflicts in calendars, timetables, and assessments. This feature is essential for efficient academic planning aligned with the school’s official calendar.
